This document (linked below) provides an overview of MAXQDA and the process of using qualitative data analysis software for students in my undergraduate courses on media content analysis, interview techniques, and a senior research seminar. There are some nuts-and-bolts details about how to use the software, but I tried to avoid covering things that students can learn from MAXQDA’s own videos and other learning resources. Instead, I focus on a list of tips that I have found are valuable for students to know, some of which are perhaps less widely available in the software’s documentation.
